Box Shelf

It is unusual that I design something that is almost entirely based on appearance, but in this case I did. The shelf was designed for a specific spot on a wall. It was to balance and echo other objects and furniture in the room and beyond that there was no required function. The shelf was even going to sit empty. In effect this is sculpture. However, like much in design, the plan changed last minute. The new position was much smaller and the shelf was reduced in height and width. The rendering below was the intended design and the photograph was the finished piece in a show before it was installed in its intended location.
